As I've mentioned to everybody as well as on this blog over and over again - I studied abroad in college.
It's a big factor of who I am today blah blah I loved it blah blah and it's why I do the work I do.
In England I met Dom, Jesse, and Dina three of my favorite people in this big big world.
Dom and Dina are sisters and Jesse is a boy from Ohio.
I will never again have such a fun time trying to find ice cream as I did one night with them, driving around a circle about five times and actually seeing my very first English ghetto.
Today, a day before my birthday, a large package was waiting for me on my chair. Inside were about five Kate Bush albums from Dina.
That's not a random thing. Kate Bush is directly linked to my experience in England.
The dorm I spent most of my time in the UK drinking, smoking pot, eating lamb kebabs was surrounded by a large lake.
I was there during my favorite season Fall, and it being England fog sprawled across the top of the water like a mountain of fluffy white cotton. Every time this happened, I would peel open my room curtains, rub my temples, scold myself for having absolutely no alcohol tolerance, and then stare at the disappearing lake.
On the foggiest days, I would walk around the lake with my ipod thinking about what I had done by leaving home for so long. The reasons why I left home came to me weeks into my stay, but the music and fog helped me get there. The two albums that were always just a wheel click away during these walks were Kate Bush "Hounds of Love" and Frou Frou "Let Go."
Listening to songs like "Running up That Hill" and "Breathe In" is really making me nostalgic and simultaneously I remember that I love my life.
Sometimes it's just good to remind myself of that.
