Goldfrapp "Seventh Tree"

Last time I checked in with Ms. Goldfrapp, her band was producing some sexy dirty electro pop that really made the gays dance.

I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up Seventh Tree and discovered that she's got the balls to release something that is an indirect throwback to her first album Felt mountain.

1. Clowns - The title freaks me out. Aside from that some great folk-sounding music. The Alison already says "look this album is different get over it" with this track. I personally love it.

2. Little Bird - Pretty good song, what makes it great is the band coming in closer to the end. I can't believe Goldfrapp has an organic sounding band in a track.

3. Happiness - First upbeat track, but not in a dirty electro sort of way, more like a bunch of skipping girls and running puppies way.

4. Road to Somewhere - One of my favorites on the album. This reminds me of Felt Mountain and it begins my favorite song section of Seventh Tree beginning with this song and ending with Cologne Cerrone Houdini.

5. Eat Yourself - I LOVE the beginning of this song. Her voice sounds great.

6. Some People - Great song again. Makes me want to hold a pretend cigarette and dry martini glass.

7. A & E - My roommate wasn't sold on this song when I blasted it four hundred times. There's something so amazing about it to me.

8. Cologne Cerrone Houdini - This is currently my favorite track on the album. Everything works for it, the atmosphere, her voice, and the way it reminds me of a French person walking around Paris holding a baguette. Don't even try to decipher that one.

9. Caravan Girl - FUN

10. Monster Love - Great ending.

Overall, this is one great chill out album. I cannot wait to see them in April.

Fine and Dandy

Tony is fucked up.

Well, not really just spending allot of time in his confused and fragmented mind as episode 6 showed.

There is something about the way the English write TV and movie dialogue that is just so effective.

They can have two characters talk about bowel movements for twenty minutes and make it mean something.

Anyway, Episode 6 "Tony" was really a I guess you can say literal and metaphorical mind fuck. I've been trying to decipher what parts were real and what parts were in Tony's head. At least I think the tattoo is real.

Some favorite moments

-I'm a tv freak so I notice small moments or details in scenes all the time. When Effy was seeing Tony off for his interview and gives Tony a goodbye hug you see her close her eyes her face burdened by worry. This wouldn't mean much for any other character, but seeing her vulnerability even for that split second was great.

-That sex scene.... Holy freaking crap, does the UK have ANY censors?

-Tony confronting the bitter professor: Oh, my cocky little Tony how I missed you.

-Tony confronting the odd couple: Please put an end to that unholy union.

This episode continues the second season's trend of dark and brooding. I don't mind that, I quite like the drama. Fine and dandy is NOT fun.

I'm waiting for the next episode to download. Last year's Effy episode was my favorite of the year so let's see where she'll take us this time.
